Fun Winter Activities On & Off the Mountain at Mount Snow

Mount Snow Resort is known for family-friendly world-class skiing in southern Vermont, easily accessible from southern New England, New York, New Jersey and beyond. It’s a great place for a fun vacation, featuring a variety of trails for all abilities and the #1-rated terrain park in the east. While you could easily spend your entire visit skiing or boarding on the mountain, if you’re looking for a little more variety, we’ve put together a list of other fun activities available in the area.

Our Snowmobile Tours!

The first is an adventurous two hour backcountry tour through the Green Mountain National Forest on the Vermont state trail system, featuring hills, woods, straightaways, scenic vistas and more. These trails are expertly groomed and maintained by the dedicated folks of the Woodford Snobusters and Deerfield Valley Stump Jumpers snowmobile clubs – you’ll be riding the same trails the experts ride and enjoy.

Another fun on-mountain activity is tubing, and Mount Snow offers an 8 lane tubing hill with magic carpet, open Friday-Sunday and holidays. You can make a day of it or go for a few runs apres-ski. Tickets include the tube rental.

Cross Country Skiing

The Timber Creek Cross Country Ski Center is a short drive from Mount Snow and offers a varied trail system, equipment rentals, and lessons. You can also rent snowshoes for use on or off their trails.

Dog Sledding

Tours include an introduction to the dogs and a demonstration of how they’re harnessed up before you head out on the trails. Tours last about 2 hours and include fields, woods, mountainous terrain, and “spectacular views of the Newell Farm and the back side of Stratton Mountain including the Sun Bowl.”

If the weather isn’t great for outdoor activities, don’t worry, West Dover and nearby Wilmington, VT offer a variety of ways to keep you entertained indoors as well!

Candlepin Bowling

This classic New England style of bowling involves heavier pins, smaller bowling balls, and a lot of fun! North Star Bowl also offers an arcade and restaurant.

Movies

Just a few minutes down the road from Mount Snow Resort is the MHCA Cinema. Open Wednesday-Sunday.

Spa Treatments & Massage

If you’re looking for a little pampering and wellness care after a day on the trails, you can visit NatureSpa, Mount Snow’s natural wellness spa, or head to Serenity Spa in historic downtown Wilmington. Both offer massage and other body treatments. Serenity Spa also offers access to a pool, hot tub and sauna for spa guests at the Crafts Inn for an additional $10.

Play Games & Solve Mysteries

Spend an hour with friends solving a mystery, or spend some time trying out board games, puzzles, and card games at Mind Lock Escape Room. Indoor fun for the whole family for those days when you just can’t (or don’t want to) play outside.
